Na Ying. Ai Jing. Gong Li. All famous celebrities in the
music and movie scene regionally and internationally. But
what very few know is that all came from the city of Shenyang,
5th largest city in China, city of 13 sq km and home to a
population of 6.8 million people.
As
the capital city of Liaoning Province, Shenyang plays an important
role in politics, economy, culture, transportation, business,
trade and information for all of Northeast China. It is also
rich in historical treasures, which today has become the city's
tourism gems.
Shenyang was the capital city of both the Qing Dynasty and
of Manchuria. Several attractions open to visitors today is
testament to its historical role and greatness.
The
Shenyang Imperial Palace enjoys equal popularity as the Beijing
Palace Museum. It was built by Manchurian Nurhachi and his
son Abukai, whom many know as Huangtaiji. Today, this historical
building is a museum that houses a valuable collection of
many cultural relics and artifacts of the Qing Dynasty. "The
Tiger-veined Double-Edged Sword" is the most famous amongst
all, as it was used by Nurhachi, the first emperor of Qing
dynasty. Other treasures include Nurhachi's imperial jade
seal, imperial jade belt, bells, chimes and more.
Shenyang's other attractions include the Shisheng Temple,
Liaobin Pagoda, the then residence of Zhou Enlai when he was
a student, the industrial museum and many more.
Many know Shenyang as an industrial town. Few know its historical
legacy and attractions. Isn't it about time, to rediscover
