Na Ying. Ai Jing. Gong Li. All famous celebrities in the music and movie scene regionally and internationally. But what very few know is that all came from the city of Shenyang, 5th largest city in China, city of 13 sq km and home to a population of 6.8 million people.

As the capital city of Liaoning Province, Shenyang plays an important role in politics, economy, culture, transportation, business, trade and information for all of Northeast China. It is also rich in historical treasures, which today has become the city's tourism gems.

Shenyang was the capital city of both the Qing Dynasty and of Manchuria. Several attractions open to visitors today is testament to its historical role and greatness.

The Shenyang Imperial Palace enjoys equal popularity as the Beijing Palace Museum. It was built by Manchurian Nurhachi and his son Abukai, whom many know as Huangtaiji. Today, this historical building is a museum that houses a valuable collection of many cultural relics and artifacts of the Qing Dynasty. "The Tiger-veined Double-Edged Sword" is the most famous amongst all, as it was used by Nurhachi, the first emperor of Qing dynasty. Other treasures include Nurhachi's imperial jade seal, imperial jade belt, bells, chimes and more.

Shenyang's other attractions include the Shisheng Temple, Liaobin Pagoda, the then residence of Zhou Enlai when he was a student, the industrial museum and many more.

Many know Shenyang as an industrial town. Few know its historical legacy and attractions. Isn't it about time, to rediscover Shenyang?
