“In the West, there was Rome; whilst in the East, none could compare to Xian”

Xian, which is located in the middle of the Wei River plain, is home to the world renowned Terracotta Warriors and had served as the nation’s capital for more than 100 years. Historically, this is the place enriched with natural resources and brilliant talents. Xian had a remarkable cultural, economic and political prosperous period in world history.

However, Xian today has developed much in the field of machinery and electronic industry as well as aviation technology. This city played a very important and significant role in the Chinese government’s economic policy of “Developing the West”.

Some of the more interesting places worth visiting are the City Wall, which is the most complete city wall that has survived in China and was built during the Tang Dynasty; the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built to house the Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the wandering monk Xuan Zang and the Shaanxi Historical Museum, with its vast collection of bronzes and fine ceramics, boasting as one of the best and most modern museums in China.

Do not miss the opportunity to visit one of the “Eight Wonders of the World” – the Qin Terracotta Warriors Museum. Xian also has a number of beautiful city parks sporting splendid traditional palace structures and pagodas. Take a stroll and explore Xian at your leisure pace.
